What you'll do

Viasat has a diverse portfolio of fast-growing businesses with a range of strategic opportunities that require analysis, evaluation, and execution. The Strategic Finance team sits at the intersection of strategy, technology, and finance. This role will report to the Deputy CFO after a transition period during which it will report to the former head of Strategic Finance.

Strategic Finance works closely with leaders from across the company to turn ideas into tangible business plans with executable strategies that drive Viasat's growth, in particular with Viasat's Corporate Development and Strategy team to identify, evaluate, and execute strategic deals, including investments, acquisitions (M&A) and partnerships. Your analysis will help drive investment decisions in established and emerging markets, and you will have the opportunity to work directly with external partners and customers to support deal negotiations.

In this role, you will engage in an exciting array of high-value opportunities with significant access to key senior leadership. The role is fast paced, unstructured and involves working with executive leadership who make major strategic decisions based on the analysis performed by the Strategic Finance Director.


The day-to-day

  • Assist in the identification, evaluation, and execution of strategic opportunities. This role will be responsible for:
  • Building detailed financial valuation models, including DCF, project NPV, sensitivity analyses, etc.
  • Presenting to ViaSat's Executive Leadership Team and other senior leaders
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand quantitative and qualitative drivers to financial and strategic evaluation

What you'll need

  • 7+ years of experience in a financial valuation modeling role such as investment banking, consulting, venture capital, private equity, corporate strategy, and/or corporate development
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Advanced Excel modeling skills and a proven track record of creating complex valuation models that have been used to influence executive-level decisions
  • Experience presenting complex strategic business concepts to senior leadership
  • May require some international travel on a project-by-project basis

Salary range

$159,400.00 - $277,000.00 / annually

Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
