The Role

In this role, you will have overall management responsibility for the global corporate and business development function of a public company with $16+ billion in revenue. You will lead the M&A strategy, including separation management, acquisitions, direct minority investments, and influence the company's long-term business plans by recommending opportunities aligned with our product, technology, and growth priorities. You will have oversight of day-to-day operations, significant planning initiatives, and special projects. This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer, engages directly with the CEO and C-Suite leaders, and has visibility with the Board of Directors.

The Main Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor teams engaged in M&A, transaction, separation, and analytics activities.
  • Set and direct Lumen's business development strategy; accountable for creating and operationalizing corporate-wide goals into near- and long-term opportunities with existing and potential customers and partners.
  • Maintain awareness of Lumen's business, strategy, and priorities; and adjacent industries and technological, economic, environmental, and competitive situations that may influence the current and future inorganic strategy.
  • Monitor financial and operational results of acquired companies against valuation assumptions and projected performance standards where appropriate.
  • Oversee the tracking, assessment, and reporting of synergy results from acquisitions and achievement of those results versus expectations.
  • Lead the management and coordination of business development initiatives ensuring smooth integration and effective implementation.
  • Provide thought leadership to the C-Suite and the Board of Directors.
  • Represent the organization internally and externally at the highest levels.
  • Act independently, guided by company policies and executive management objectives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • A bachelor's degree with a minimum of 20+ years of related corporate development experience.
  • 15+ years of leadership experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate, influence, collaborate and partner with senior executives and diverse stakeholders.

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

Location Based Pay Ranges

$236410 - $315210 in these states: AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD.
$248850 - $331800 in these states: AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY.
$261300 - $348390 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI.
$273740 - $364980 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.

As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
