Position Summary:
The position of Senior Physician Assistant in the Department of Surgery, requires a highly competent, independent yet team-oriented individual who will be immersed in the management and coordination of all inpatient care for the Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Service. Duties include and not limited to assessing health needs, planning and evaluating care of all patients on the general surgery services as well as patients in the surgical intensive care unit. The senior physician assistant will participate with inpatient sign out at beginning and end of shift. Follows up with the General Surgery teams/residents/attending physicians. Will be involved in trauma resuscitations and performing surgical consultations on potential general surgery patients. Responsibility for care and organization of procedures (including scheduling operations, interventional procedures, etc) and follow-up, obtain consults as needed, and discharge patients (including discharge summary, instructions, and medications) when appropriate. Triage phone calls. Responsible for the reviewing critical labs, follow-up of results with patient and medical staff, obtaining comprehensive medical histories, performing initial and periodic physical examinations/assessments, and exploring patient's interpretation of health needs. Incumbent will identify and treat patients and manage treatment of hospitalized patients. The PA demonstrates an advanced level of medical knowledge, clinical/technical competence, sound clinical judgment, professional communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and is responsible for professional development and competency validation. Under the joint supervision of Chief of Trauma, Burns, and Critical Care Services and the Trauma Medical Director and guided by the applicable policies and procedures, the Senior physician assistant will participate in the comprehensive care of patients in the ambulatory or inpatient settings and provide multi-disciplinary care coordination, treatment, education, monitoring, and communication with patients and referring physicians. A Senior physician assistant is an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) who possesses the advanced education, knowledge, clinical skills and experience.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $79.88 - $109.66 (Hourly Rate). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $79.88 - $109.66 (Hourly Rate).
